The Role
As a Music Teacher, whether you're an ECT or have prior teaching experience, your responsibilities will include:
Delivering engaging Music Teacher lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, helping students build both practical and theoretical music skills.
Developing a creative and diverse curriculum that includes music theory, performance, composition, and history to inspire students of varying abilities.
Guiding individual and group performances, helping students refine their skills in both vocal and instrumental music.
Collaborating with the music department to ensure the curriculum is accessible and effective, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Providing constructive feedback to track student progress and help them excel in both theoretical and practical aspects of music.
Supporting extracurricular activities such as concerts, school music clubs, and ensembles, offering students the chance to showcase their musical talents.
For experienced teachers, taking on leadership responsibilities such as mentoring colleagues or contributing to the strategic planning of the department.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a Music Teacher who is passionate about the subject and dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced educator, you should possess:
βοΈ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Music or a related field.
βοΈ For ECTs: A commitment to developing professionally with the support of experienced staff.
βοΈ For Experienced Teachers: Proven experience teaching music at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with a record of achieving strong student outcomes.
βοΈ Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, composition, and history.
βοΈ The ability to engage and inspire students in both practical and theoretical music tasks.
βοΈ A creative approach to lesson planning that makes music enjoyable and challenging for all students.
βοΈ Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
βοΈ A willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities that foster a love for music outside the classroom.
βοΈ For Experienced Teachers: Leadership or mentoring experience within the department is desirable.
