A dynamic and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Newham is seeking a passionate and experienced HLTA to join their team as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by supporting students who require additional guidance to re-engage with learning in a nurturing and structured environment.
Role Highlights:
- Full-time, permanent position at a vibrant PRU in Newham
- Support students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, helping them access learning in a positive and structured way
- Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions to support academic progress and personal development
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to students' individual needs
- Provide classroom cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to implement behaviour support plans and intervention strategies
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel safe and valued
Experience & Qualifications:
- HLTA qualification or significant experience as a Teaching Assistant in a PRU or alternative provision
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, helping them develop confidence and resilience
- A proactive and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced environment
- Enhanced DBS check required
